Perimenopause—the years leading up to menopause when hormones start to decline—is a gradual process that can last for over 10 years in some women. And some women experience a long list of symptoms during this time—much sooner, in some cases, than they were probably expecting. Irregular periods, night sweats, and hot flashes are just the more commonly discussed symptoms of menopause and perimenopause, but everything from digestive disorders to vaginal dryness to vertigo can come into play during this time. Some symptoms are less discussed and less noticeable. Like feeling tired all the time. Or feeling a little foggy. But paying attention to the signs and taking steps to identify and treat the underlying causes could mean making things a lot easier on yourself during the transition into the next major phase of your life.
